Rider keeps licence after getting caught at 120mph
'Lucky' Lenny Townsend, 28 from Warrington, Cheshire must be the Worlds luckiest boy. Townsend was caught doing 120.22mph by Cheshire traffic police in October last year on the M62 motorway.
Despite only having passed his test the week before, Townsend, who was riding a 2008 Yamaha R1, hardly the most appropriate 1st 'proper' bike, managed to convince the judge at Liverpool magistrates court that he should keep his licence as he was the only income earner in his house and that his partner and 3 kids depended on him as he was also the only driver in the house.
The judge decided that, although Townsend was guilty of grossly excessive speed, given that he was a responsible family man a special case should be made for him. Townsend was fined £280 and ordered to pay £100 court costs. He was also given 9 points on his licence meaning that he is just one convction away from a ban under the toting-up procedure.
Wonder how much Towsend's bike insurance will cost now!!!

Schumacher, who has won the Formula One championship a record 7 times, was onboard his Honda CBR1000RR when he crashed.
Although his team boss Jens Holzauser dismissed the crash as a 'harmless slip', Schumacher was deemed injured enough to have been take to hospital as a precaution after complaining of neck and wrist injuries.
Although tests showed nothing was damaged, Schumacher was unable to take part in any further testing that day. Schumacher was released from hospital that day and is expected to be back on board his Fireblade in the near future.
