2010 World Superbike Teams – Part One

There are seven teams competing in this years 2010 World Superbike Championship. The teams will be competing against each other for the SBK Manufacturer title as well as the riders competing against one another for the World Superbike Championship rider title.

Racing for the Suzuki team this season will be Leon Haslam, who hails from the United Kingdom, and Sylvain Guintoli who comes from France. According to sources, Suzuki has won only one manufactures championship, which they one in the 2005 season.

Riding for the Ducati team this season will be six different riders that coming from five different countries; the Ducati riders this year will be Shane Byrne, Micheal Fabrizio, Noriyuki Haga, Jakeb Sirs, Carlos Checa, and Lorenzo Lanzi. The Ducati team come from Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, and the Czech Republic. Ducati has enjoyed great success in the Superbike Championship, winning an impressive 16 titles, being the dominant team in 15 championships that range from 1991 to 2005, taking 13 wins out of 15.

Honda will be sporting four riders this 2010 World Superbike Championship. Riders Jonathan Rea, Max Neukirchner, Josh Brookes and Vittorio Iannuzo will all be racing for Honda as well as vying for the Superbike Championship rider title as well.

During the early days of the World Superbike Championship, Honda won home the manufacturers titles three times, winning in 1988, 1989, and in 1990,  taking another win in 1997 to make their total championship wins four.
