BMW Motorrad have got their 2013 Word Superbike preparations underway with some winter testing at Jerez, Spain. Marco Melandri (pictured) and new addition to the team, Chaz Davies, carried out two days of testing and adjustments on their BMW S 1000 RR machines in order to get them race-ready for the new season.
Over the two day session, the team managed to complete 149 laps which gave them the opportunity to evaluate newly developed bike components, before changeable weather set in at the circuit. Jerez will feature on the World Superbike calendar next season, when it will play host to the final. Speaking of his new appointment on the bike, Chaz said;
‘It was great to test my RR for the first time and to be back on the track again. Unfortunately we didn’t have the weather we were hoping for; it would have been nice to have consistent conditions no matter if wet or dry but that wasn’t the case so it was a little bit challenging. I think I need to start steadily; I wouldn’t be on the pace after one test even in perfect conditions. We need to keep working and hopefully we will have better luck with the weather at the next test.’
