Carlos Checa shone in last weekend’s practice and qualifying for the World Superbike Championship round held at Nürburgring in Germany. Checa, who was one of the fastest racers in the practice and qualifying session, stated that his goal was to walk away with two podium finishes for the day.

In race number one, the Althea racer achieved half of his goal as he took second place following Jonathan Rea of Hannspree Ten Kate Honda. Checa battled all the way to the end of the contest as he tried to beat the his northern Irish Honda rival, but had to ultimately had to settle for what would be his fifth podium of the season, along with his win at Philip Island and his performance at Misano, Kyalami, and Valencia, all three second place finishes.
In the second race, Checa battled with Rea and Noriyuki Haga of Ducati Xerox for his second podium of the day. However, the Spanish rider was kept from the much sought after place of prominence due to a crash that was incurred halfway through the second race. Even though Checa did not achieve his goal of two podiums, overall Althea was pleased with the Althea Racing team’s performance at the World Superbike Championship in Nürburgring over the weekend.
