It has been confirmed that triple British Superbike Champion, Shane Byrne and two-time National Superstock Champion, Keith Farmer, will take on the 2013 BSB for Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki. Both riders will contest the twelve-round series on their Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10Rs – the bike on which Byrne claimed eight victories on his way to the title. Byrne is determined to use the 2013 contest to defend his Number One plate; the previous two wins saw him move to MotoGP and World Superbike the year after his victory.
As well as the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki team’s entry into BSB, Paul Bird Motorsports has decided to contest the MotoGP, entering a two-man team, one of who will ride the CRT-spec ART Aprilia and the other a PBM bike.
Speaking of his title-defending efforts next year, Byrne said;
‘I was in the enviable position of being offered a ride in either MotoGP or BSB by Paul Bird and after some careful consideration, I thought the option of staying with my championship winning team on a great bike in BSB was too good to resist. We’re going into 2013 even stronger…I’m hoping I can defend the title but it won’t be easy.’
