With Casey Stoner at pole position, championship leader Jorge Lorenzo will also be starting on the front row for the 15th time in a row after continuing his amazing qualifying streak that reaches back to the Malaysian round of last year. Jorge of Fiat Yamaha was behind Casey by only 0.309s with a time of 1’49.251.
Dani Pedrosa fought for the pole position all through the session and it looked like Dani of Respol Honda was on his way to attaining it as he was ahead of Casey by 0.215s. However, Dani was running hard and went ride, which placed him in third place with just a fraction over .4s behind Casey’s top time.
Rounding out the qualifying session was Nicky Hayden in fourth place, Ben Spies in fifth, Randy de Puniet in sixth, Valentino Rossi in seventh, with Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Simoncelli, and Héctor Barberá completing the top ten.
