Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyama, Castrol Honda riders, took some time out during testing in Qatar last week to visit a local Honda distributor and assist in the launch of the 2012 version of the CBR1000RR Fireblade.
2012 sees the 20th anniversary model of this iconic sports bike- which will act as the base for the Castrol Honda team’s machine in next season’s World Superbike Championship.
Fellow racer Glen Richards, who had competed with the Honda TT Legends team in the 8 Hours of Doha World Endurance race the previous weekend, joined Rea and Aoyama- answering questions from local media, signing autographs and posing for photographs.
Rea said: “The guys tell me that the local market is growing for Honda and, having met some fans here and listened to their knowledge and passion, I can see why!”
