Changes to World Superbike calendar

Friday, January 4 2013

There has been a switch in the planned calendar of the 2013 World Superbike calendar, with the FIM moving the Aragon round from the 7th April to the 14th, in order to avoid a clash with the MotoGP. The main reason behind the alteration is down to the fact that when the MotoGP organisers cancelled the Argentinian round of the contest, they moved their Qatar opener to a week later, which would have been on, you’ve guessed it, the 7th April!

Up to now, no other changes are on the cards, but it’s worth noting that the Imola round is still subject to contract. Also, though the Portimao stage has no cancellation planned, the circuit is experiencing some major financial difficulties, so its planned June 23rd date is somewhat up in the air! So far, the planned schedule is as follows:

  • 24th February  Australia  Phillip Island
  • 10th March  India  Buddh Circuit
  • 14th April  Spain  Aragon
  • 28th April  Netherlands  Assen
  • 12th April  Italy  Monza
  • 26th May  UK  Donington
  • 9th June  Portugal  Portimao (STC)
  • 23rd June  TBA  TBA
  • 30th June  Italy  Imola (STC)
  • 21st July  Russia  Moscow Raceway
  • 4th August  UK  Silverstone
  • 1st September  Germany  Nurburgring
  • 29th September  USA  Laguna Seca
  • 6th October  France  Magny Cours
  • 20th October  Spain  Jerez
