Well just tried Carole Nash’s Six Wheel and the total combi price was £596 as opposed to a total of £330 doing 2 seperate policies. Back to the drawing board CN!

Great idea,and have just heard Carole Nash are bring out this type of insurance this week called Six Wheel insurance.Hope its not to long before other comanys catch on .And make it competively viable.

I agree with most comments - to have separate car and motorcycle insurance doesn’t make sense, you can’t drive or ride at the same time. Only the insurance companies benefit from this. It’s about time the whole insurance industry had a massive shake up and moved into the 21st century. I wonder if insurance brokers in other countries can offer us a better deal?

Interesting topic, one that gets plenty of “churning” where ever you go. I would like to add something though - if someone claims a disabled full allowance, they can ride a quad bike at the ripe old age of 16!

As i’m sure plenty of people have voiced their opinion about having to have seperate policies for car & bike. I am in the same predicament but cannot figure out why we cannot have a joint policy other than the greed of the insurance companies. As others have said we physically cannot ride & drive both vehicles at the same time so whats the problem

I have been riding motorbikes for years, and struggle every year getting quotes, as there is no comparison sites for motorbike insurance. Your website is a breath of fresh air and HALVED my quote for this year!! Normally I spend hours calling round different companies, your system took few minutes!

screw the chairman, ita a rip off how can these small cars that are produced atm pay less road tax than a bike its a f~~~~ joke these smaller so called eco cars with 600+cc engines which have 4 wheels and tyres hitting the road only pay £30 a year tax in some cases even less when a bikes tyre contact patch wouldent even span 1 car tyre and yet they charge us 50/60 a year when bikes no no damage to the road and take up no room? its about time the bikers took action and we all stopped paying tax.

I too have a bike a car and a van and get screwed on an annually basis. Time combined insurance became the norm.

The 6-9 morning slot will never be the same for me again (no reflection at all on those who remain). Phil and Kim were a dream team for sure.

I feel a deep sadness, and a personal loss, as I write these words, he was a huge part of so many lives, even if they never met him (I am one of those people)

My sincere condolences to Phil’s family and my heart goes out to Kim too who must feel she has lost a vital part of herself too.

His beloved pet dog will be pining for him I am certain.

I grew up idolising my dad & his motorbikes, but when it was time for me to hit the road I was urged into the all-weather practicality of a car. now having two years experience on four wheels, i want to run a bike for commuting similarly to most others… but simply cant afford my life’s ambition running two simultaneous policies. Any insurer brave enough to take this leap of faith would surely reap the benefits. Let’s see it happen.

Dan is right, always take the time to compare quotes!

The Bike Insurer saved me over £100 on my Yama quote last year, before that I was with another company called www.comparecom.co.uk but they couldnt keep up with the Bike Insurer low rates.

I tried to get quote as I reckon that it would be more economical in these times to get a moped rather than a car, but can not seem to get information about prices of insurance on the net for Ire ? is it me?

I would be very interested in combined car and bike insurance policy. Having to spend most of my spare money on fuel for the car just to get to work is getting to me now and i’m seriously looking at getting a bike for the commute. I’ve worked out I could cut my fuel costs in half by running a bike as my main vehicle and just using the car to ferry the family about at weekends. As Mattys Dad stated you can only use one vehicle at a time. Come on insurance companies….do something useful for the consumer for once and rescue my family from poverty.

JUST PASSED MY TEST AND SWAPED MY PRILLA 125 FOR A 1990 KRIS IN MINT CONDITION THEY GO LIKE THE CLAPPERS FOR A 250, ITS WRAPED UP IN GARAGE ALL POLISHED UP! CANT WAIT UNTILL ITS BACK ON THE ROAD I THINK THERE A GOOD BIKE AND WILL ONLY COST ME 170 TO INSURE THATS NOT BAD FOR A 19 YR OLD!BEST OF LUCK WITH YOURS BUT TAKE IT OUT ONCE IN A WHILE!

like so many of my freinds and family, I have motorcycles and a car. This makes daily life easier, for getting about, doing the shopping , ferrying kids around etc. plus it also creates a back up for when one is being serviced ,However we cannot get a joint insurance policy. This seems rather unfair. we are still the same driver/ rider no matter what vehicle we are in/on.a combined policy would make payments easier, less paperwork documents and a better deal for the company because they get both lots of money, i have 2 separate companies for mine, which is a pain when filling out forms and paying direct debits i cant believe that the risk is any greater by using different types of vehicles, than a purely car driver who has 2 cars.
I also beleive that a multi vehicle owner has a more sensible attitude because they have worked hard to get those vehicles in the first place and are less likely to be wreckless whilst driving.

Ok so from what people have told us on here, over the phone and by email, a combined policy for car and bike insurance is the way forward.

There is a problem with this though, and thats finding an insurer who is going to be the first to do it.

However, in the meantime, we have another little idea that we think might help you a bit.

So at the moment, The Bike Insurer compares bike insurance and a few other companies, Money Supermarket etc compare car insurance. What about this - One quote form that displays car and bike insurance quotes next to each other. Yes there will still be 2 providers of your insurance, one for bike and one for car but at least you can just get one quote for both, which saves you messing about having to fill in your details time and time again.

Like that idea at all, let us know…..

My friend told me about this website and I just got a quote from it. I was really impressed that I get the legal cover that some other companies wanted to charge me about £20 for and the quote was cheaper. My motorbike insurance is due for renewal next week and Im definitely going to use tesco from now on.

Funny I should come across this - I have just asked Admiral that very question today (combined car and bike) and the answer was no!
If the insurance companies woke up to the needs of the consumers and started to give us what we wanted (without hoiking prices through the roof) we’d all be a lot happier. I for one would definitely vote for a combined car and bike policy, or even better, insure the driver/rider for any vehicle that they own personally - can only use one at a time!!
Maybe one day? Soon would be good!
