Debut World Superbike round under threat

Thursday, January 10 2013

Another day, another news story from World Superbikes! This time, its come from India; well, Indian customs to be exact! At the moment, Indian law states that all World Superbike machinery needs to be in the country fifteen days before the Indian round takes place, which means the 24th February. The problem is, that’s the exact same day of the 2013 Phillip Island round, which puts WSB organisers in quite a pickle!

As if that wasn’t bad enough, it turns out that teams are also going to have to pay a bond to cover the costs of anything which isn’t a standard bike. Indian customs can then keep hold of that money for up to six months. A meeting has been organised to try and sort out the clash…as ever, watch this space.
