Double Podium for HM Plant Honda

Saturday, July 10 2010

HM Plant Honda riders, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes rode their HM Plant Honda Fireblades to achieve podium status at the British Superbike Championship held at Knockhill last weekend. Winning a podium finish in this race enabled Josh to move into the championship lead for the British Superbike Championship (BSB). There was only one race of the sixth round of the BSB that was held last weekend; the second race had to be cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

Josh took off from pole position and was the front runner in the race until the contest was red flagged on the starting lap due to a heavy downpour of rain. When the race resumed it was Kiyo who took the lead, however, a crash that involved Dan Linfoot and Chris Walker that resulted in the second red flag of the day.

Upon the third restart of the race, both of the HM Plant Honda racers jumped out in front from the start, with Josh ahead of Kiyo in the front of the pack on the starting lap. It was Kiyo who then took the lead as he passed Josh, who himself was then overtaken by Michael Rutter who went on to win the race. This meant that Kiyo and Josh finished the race in second and third place respectively. The podium finishes for the HM Honda Plant riders places Josh in first place in overall championship standings and Kiyo in third place in the overall standings.
