Totting-up penalty points

Remember, the more penalty points you tot up, the more impact it will have on your bike insurance. Also, if you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years, you’ll be liable to be disqualified under the totting-up system. This is shown on your licence as TT99.

Guilty? Accept the Fixed Penalty.

If you know that you’re guilty of an offence and you’re offered a Fixed Penalty, then we’d recommend that you accept this rather than trying to wheedle out of it. Yes, your licence will be endorsed with the minimum number of penalty points (don’t forget to inform your bike insurance provider) but, in our experience, the fine is likely to be far less than the costs incurred if you go to a court and are found guilty.
