Ducati 1199 Panigale “Most Beautiful Bike of Show”

The new 1199 Panigale Superbike has been awarded the title of “Most Beautiful Bike of Show” at the 69th EICMA in Milan, Italy.

More than13,800 show visitors voted for their favourite in the competition, organised by motorcycle magazine, Motociclismo. Results came in as follows: with the stunning new Ducati 1199 Panigale gaining an impressive 53.4% of votes- winning by an impressive margin! Second place went to the MV Agusta F3 with 17% of votes and third to the Husqvarna Nuda 900R with 3%.

The award was presented on the final day of the show, which saw almost 500,000 people in attendance at the vast Fiera di Milano exhibition centre throughout the six days of the EIMCA event.

The award announcement took place in the presence of Pierfrancesco Caliari (General Secretary of Confindustria ANCMA/EICMA), Piero Bacchetti (President of Edisport Editoriale) and Gianandrea Fabbro (Senior Designer at the Ducati Design Centre responsible for the incredible new machine.)

“Most Beautiful Bike of Show” is a highly coveted title and is a just reward for Ducati’s continued innovative product development. This award coincides fittingly with the famous Italian manufacturer’s announcement that the end of 2011 will see the best financial results in the company’s history to date.

The award-winning motorcycle was designed and built in Borgo Panigale, Bologna and combines the most high tech and powerful twin-cylinder production engine in the world with a cutting-edge monocoque chassis concept. Together these features deliver an astonishing 195hp from 164kg of sleek Italian engineering.

The highest production motorcycle power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world are fitting rewards for the incredible results that Ducati have achieved- setting a tremendous benchmark for the Superbike category.

Ducati’s Riding Mode delivers enhanced performance and enhanced rider confidence at the click of a button, by combining seven class-leading technologies. New-generation sports ABS system, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), new race-derived Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ride-by-Wire (RbW) are now all programmed into a seamless rider assistance package. Even the full colour Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display changes accordingly, to suit the rider’s environment.


State-of-the-art engineering; melding latest technologies with exciting new family features, the 1199 Panigale is totally “Ducati” in all respects. A no-compromise approach to sporting design and attention to stylish, fine detail presents authentic Ducati at its finest. Bred for the track yet trained for the road, this Superbike is a revolutionary beast- destined to influence the whole sportsbike environment, and serve to further strengthen Ducati’s recent successes.

The EICMA show marked the official introduction of the ground-breaking 1199 Panigale, 1199 Panigale S and flagship 1199 Panigale S Tricolore. The “Tricolore” model proudly wears the red, white and green of the Italian flag, emphasising the title “Made in Italy” and coinciding with celebrations of the country’s 150th anniversary of unification. All three models will be available from early 2012.
