James Ellison’s performance in the opening free practice for the triple race Showdown at Oulton Park sends out a signal to the six Title Fighters that he is intent on giving them a tough time at the final racing session of the MCE British Superbike Championship. The Title Fighters Shootout will determine who wears the British Superbike crown for 2010.

Ellison, who rides for Swan Honda is just coming off a victory at the Silverstone circuit that he obtained in the previous round. Fresh off the Silverstone win, Ellison is ready for more success and could possibly show what may have been had he not broke his leg during a second round race in April. The crash in April was a crash that shattered his hopes of winning the crown; however, Ellison can now possibly impact the final impact of who wins the title. According to his pace and commitment to give his all to win, Ellison could be a force to be reckoned with at Oulton Park. Ellison explained that this year had been a rollercoaster ride for him and that he wanted to finish the season on a high note. He pointed out that since he had no title to lose there would not be any reason for him to ride defensively.
Ellison’s pace, a pace that lapped 1 mile in 36.3256 seconds, may present a bit of a problem for the Title Fighters, even though five of the Title Fighters were in the top six racers on the leader board with only a little better than a half a second separating them.
