The first practice session of the 2010 Isle of Man TT Road races had to have a reduced practice session due to inclement weather conditions that were fraught with a steady drizzle and heavy cloud cover. The Isle of Man TT races official start was scheduled to start on Saturday, May 29th, the practice session that was scheduled was reduced to a speed controlled session exclusively for solo and sidecar racers who are newcomers.

It appears that all of the top competitors will be able to make the competition this year, since there are no problems with date clashes; several of the racers are planning to try out new machines at the first available opportunity, including Keith Amor and Michael Rutter, both new recruits to HM Plant Honda. In addition, Olie Linsdell should be on the track tonight on his MotoGp bike, the first appearance in the United Kingdom of one of the new GP bikes.
In the recent event, the North West 200, John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson were stars as was Amor on his private entry bike; coming off the North West these three racers will be entering the Isle of Man race full of confidence. At the North West 200, as usual there was not much to choose among the racers, it appears that this trend will continue on the Isle of Man. Bruce Anstey and Cameron Donald of TAS Suzuki are hoping to make a good show on the Isle, hoping to beat the low key days that they experienced in Ireland.
However, the man to beat at the TT will be McGuinness, who has 15 victories to his credit and is showing no indication that he is slowing down. McGuinness has been in good form on the short circuits and is looking to continue his success with the same set up he has used in the past, as he flies the colours of HM Plant and Padgetts as well, a combination that will be hard to stop.
