Following a pole position qualification and then clocking the fastest time in the mornings warm-up session, it seemed as if Hill was set up to make podium finishes, if not wins in the Sunday races. However, in race number one, as Hill was on the tail of the leader, Ryuichi Kiyonari, he made a momentary error as he took his bike through Hall Bends and ground his engine case against a kerb that resulted in a Hill wrecking his bike.

The Worx Crescent Suzuki Team put out a grand effort to clean-up  Hill’s GSX-1000 (that had been doused in fire extinguisher foam to quench the oil burning in the bike’s belly pan) in time for the second race. The hard work of the Worx Crescent Suzuki team paid off, as Hill executed a strong runner-up finish in a race that was cut short due to a racer having a heavy crash on the mountain.

The team manager for Worx Crescent Suzuki, Jack Valentine complimented the team on the excellent clean up job on Hill’s bike that was covered in fire extinguisher dust and having the bike ready for the second race. Valentine said that the team was looking forward to Mallory Park, although it was a way off.
