Ian Hutchinson took the victory in what was to be a delayed PokerStars Superbike race at the Isle of Man TT races. The Padgetts Honda racer came in 33 seconds ahead of Michael Dunlop with Cameron Donald who had fell to 13th place fighting his way back to finish in the third position. It looked like Manxman Conor Cummins had the race all but won after an amazing opening lap of 131.511 mph, which was just a hair under the lap record. Cummins had a dominating 21 second lead at the end of lap number four but encountered some setbacks in his second pit stop that cut his lead down to four seconds and soon he was retired at Laurel Bank.

Due to a heavy mist that fell upon the Douglas area, the race that was scheduled to start at 12:00 pm was delayed until 3:30 pm, even with the delay, there was still a mist that hung around the lower two miles of the course. Fifteen time winner John McGuinness worked his way to an early lead, the HM Plant Honda racer kept a slim 0.08 second lead over Cummins at Glen Helen as Hutchinson and Donald followed in third and fourth place; however, the lead did not hold as he retired at Sulby Straight. Cummins continued on in the race until mechanical problems forced him to an early retirement, which left Hutchinson to take the victory in the opener at the Isle of Man TT event.
