Insurance claim excuses
So then, a little while ago we were called by a customer that wanted to know how he could go about making a bike insurance claim that had occurred under 'dubious circumstances.'
This chap had been doing a little 'moonlighting' away from his wife a hundred miles away under the cover story of working nights. He had been living away 3 nights a week for 6 months.
This particular night he had overslept and got up late. He knew he had to be at home at his usual time or else the missus might suspect something was up.
So off he rides on his R6, at stupid mph most of the way. For the last 40 or so miles of his journey he sees another bike in his mirror, not too close, but noticeable anyway.
Living a lie for so long had clearly affected this chap though as all sorts of things began to run through his mind, including his wife having found out about him and having him tailed. So, 30 seconds later, once he decides that this is definitely the reason for the bike being there he decides to bugger off up the road and lose him.
A couple of miles later, after checking for the 50th time that the bike is no longer there, he makes a mistake and loses control of the bike going round a left hander.
The bike's written off, the rider is on his way to hospital 25 miles from where he is supposed to be and the first call he makes, before his wife, before anyone else is to us asking how we can help. Clearly delirious, he asks us to call his wife and say that he had been kidnapped, alongwith his bike and they had both been dumped from a van by the side of the road.
Needless to say, the wife didnt recieve a call from us! What's your claims story, from the unlucky to the ridiculous, tell us now, we want to hear it. And then tell everyone else about it!!
