Laverty enjoyed a successful day at the North Yorkshire venue as he took a second place and a first place finish in the opening races of the Title Fighters’ Shootout. Laverty walked away with 45 points to place him only 16 points behind series leader Tommy Hill with five more races to go in the series.
In the opening race, Laverty was able to fend off Hill for the opening three laps, setting the pace for the contest. Both riders were able to put distance between them and the pack that was in hot pursuit, placing ten seconds between them and the third place winner Stuart Easton. Laverty kept the pressure on Hill in the final stages of the race and took second by a margin of 0.155s behind the winner Hill.
In the second race, Laverty was off to a confident start that allowed him to pull away from the competition in the beginning laps, but in a replay of the first race, Laverty and Hill battled it out in an edge of your seat finale. However, in this race Laverty was not denied victory as he took the lead position on the penultimate lap riding his GSX-R1000 Relentless by TAS Suzuki to victory.
