Stefan Bradl will graduate from Moto2 to MotoGP in 2012 after closing a two-year deal with LCR Honda. This announcement comes after a verbal agreement was made following his impromptu audition in post-season tests at Valencia, where the German gave an impressive debut performance on an 800cc MotoGP bike and finished in the top 10.
Bradl referred to the signing as a ‘dream come true’. The 21 year old replaces Toni Elias in the satellite Honda team after the inaugural Moto2 champion struggled in his return to the premier class. The Lucio Cecchinello run outfit will be looking for their team to gain podium positions in the premier class.
Team manager, Cecchinello added: “Next year will be very important for the MotoGP; from next April the championship will have new technical rules and participants. Together with Honda we have considered several riders and Stefan was one of our candidates. Following the Valencia test, we were very impressed by his potential and determination: Stefan is young and fast and he just clinched the Moto2 World Title, so we believe he can grow together with the Team over the next two years. He already knew the technical staff and today I am happy to give him our warmest welcome in the LCR Team!”
