Leon Camier of FIXI Crescent Suzuki fame has been given permission by his team to join up with Suzuki Factory Test Rider Nobuatsu Aoki and Superbike Champion Josh Wates to take part in the 35th Anniversary of the Suzuka 8-hour race in Japan in July a part of the Yoshimura Suzuki Team.
Taking place on Sunday 29th July at the Suzuka circuit, the 8 hour race sees riders alternating every 50 minutes in order to complete as many laps as possible. The track is one of the only ones in the world to be constructed in a figure eight, with the back straight passing over the front section via an overpass and as such is even more demanding than a standard track.
The 2012 event is exceptional in two senses; not only is it the 35th anniversary of the race, it is also the 35th appearance for the Yoshimura Suzuki team, making them the only team to compete in every staging of the race.
Leon Camier said he is thrilled to be taking part;
‘I am absolutely thrilled to be racing in the Suzuka 8-hour race this year and honoured that Yoshimura has asked me to take part in a prestigious race, I have done it three times before but have neer been successful there so I am hoping this year will see a change of luck.
‘I would like to thank FIXI Crescent Suzuki for allowing me to take part in the race and hope I can reward them with a good result.’
