The Motorcycle Industry Association in conjunction with their partners ‘Riders are Voters are heralding the pressing need for the coming administration to deal with the Driving Standards Agency’s poor management of the training of riders and licensing problems.

MCI and RAV have stated that there is a need for a better relationship betwixt the motorcycle community and Governmental agencies regarding the managing of testing and licensing policies. MCI and RAV believe that the motorcycle industry, trainers and motorcycle riding groups need to have a full role in the processes involved in making policies, instead of just being ignored in the consultation meetings. Additionally, the new administration will need to be more deeply involved in the in motorcycle licensing issues.
Some of the complaints about the DSA’s policies include:
The reduced amount of testing centres, which has resulted in test candidates having a difficult time trying to get a test; the amount of testing centres have been cut from over 200 to 45 for the module one test.
A fall of over 60% in the amount of candidates that suggest that a permanent learner problem is beginning.
The DSA’s complex interpretation of EU laws being costly.
These complaints along with other issues have prompted the MCI and the RAV to speak out about the DSA mismanagement of licensing and testing policies. Hopefully, the next administration that comes into power will listen to their complaints and do something about the problem before the situation worsens.
