Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team Tackle new Motorland Aragon Track

Sunday, September 19 2010

Ben Spies and Colin Edwards both successfully entered into new territory as they took on the new Motorland Aragon Track in Spain. Both Ben and Colin of the Monster Yamaha Tech team tackled the new circuit in impressive fashion as they took their bikes on a circuit that was totally new to them.

Both of the American bikers were instantly struck with the tricky layout of the 5.078km track that is a mixture of blind entry corners, pieces of track that demand hard braking and exhilarating ripple changes.

As a Friday morning practice session was back on the schedule for the time since back in 2008, Ben and Colin got right to fine-tuning the set-up of their Monster Yamaha Tech 3 bikes to match the Motorland Aragon layout. The morning practice session was performed in cool but none the less dry conditions.

Colin finished ninth and Spies finished 10th in the morning session but encountered a completely new ballgame in the afternoon session as a heavy dousing of rain hit the track as the afternoon session got underway. Ben gave a stellar performance in the rain considering his lack of MotoGP experience as he finished in eighth place in the wet afternoon session. Fellow Texan Ben Spies seemed to be undaunted by the wet and finished less than a second behind the top four finishers.
