For 2012, Dorna Sports is delighted to announce that they will be enlisting the expertise of Capirossi, tapping into the extensive experience and knowledge of the former rider who has competed in the 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP categories.
An exciting new chapter for the World Championship commences with the introduction of 1000cc machines, new CRT rules and the new Moto3 category for the 2012 season. The insight of Capirossi will prove to be of high value as MotoGP incorporates important and significant changes within the sport.
With his understanding of the needs and requirements of riders and vast knowledge and experience on a range of different machines, Capirossi will give the World Championship sound advice on important matters such as safety, new regulations, the competition in general and the official recognition of new tracks.
In acknowledgement of Capirossi’s exceptional contribution to the sport throughout his entire career, Dorna has requested that Capirossi’s number 65 be removed from use in the MotoGP World Championship.
