Twenty-seven more motorcycle helmets have had a rating by (SHARP Safety Helmet Assessment and rating Programme), which brings the amount of ratings that have been published to more than 200.

All of the ratings are currently available on the new SHARP site that was upgraded to provide more information for bikers on how to find a motorcycle helmet that is right for them. Additionally, the website will also show how the SHARP tests are conducted and how a biker can know if a helmet fits his head properly.

There is a minimum safety standard that must be met by all motorcycle helmets; the SHARP scheme however uses a broader battery of tests to give riders more knowledge about the protection that they can expect from a helmet in the event of a crash. The purpose of the advice, which includes important guidelines on choosing a helmet that fits well, is to enable riders to select the helmet that will meet their particular needs. The SHARP tests rate helmets between one and five stars, this has shown that the safety performance of helmets can differ by as mush as 70 per cent. As helmets across a broad price range have received a high score, all bikers should be able to find a safe helmet that suits their needs at a price that they can afford
