Ducati will be in attendance at the NEC’s Motorcycle Live this year and the unveiling of this year’s new model is sure to steal the show. In 2009, the Multistrada saw visitors stunned by its technological innovation; in 2010 the Diavel wowed crowds with its awe-inspiring redefinition of the cruiser class and now this year Motorcycle Live will play host to the new 1199 Panigale- the most impressive model range in Ducati’s history.
The 1199 Panigale will without a doubt dominate the main headlines, but the Ducati stand, more than ever, has something for everyone. MCN’s ‘machine of the year’, the Diavel, has a strong presence and those drawn to this award winning bike will be able to see the new Diavel Cromo and special edition Diavel AMG. The firmly established Multistrada will show off its latest addition to the family- the Pikes Peak Special Edition in celebration of its recent successes at this famous Colorado hill climb. The Multistrada 1200S Touring is also now available in a new for 2012 Titanium colour.
The Streetfighter range sees the introduction of the 848 model, the new 848 Testastretta 11° engine providing a smooth and flexible power delivery. The Streetfighter 848 also has enhanced chassis geometry that provides confidence-inspiring agility, refined ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control.
The Hypermotard range remains largely unchanged aside from the addition of the new 1100 EVO SP Corse Edition embodying full red, white and black Ducati Corse official colours. The iconic Monster range has received some minor changes and tweaks and all models will be on display on the Ducati stand.
The 1199 Panigale isn’t the only new addition to the 2012 Superbike range. Next year will see the arrival of the stunning 848EVO Corse Special Edition complete with Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quick Shift, Öhlins rear suspension and 330mm brake discs- all beautifully robed in Ducati Corse official colours.
And finally to the 1199 Panigale- which has so many innovative features that it will take visitors to the stand many, many hours to discover the finer details of the most advanced Superbike ever to be seen at Motorcycle Live.
The completely new Superquadro engine (so called because of its hugely over-square bore and stroke ratio) has heightened power to an astonishing milestone of 195hp for a production twin-cylinder and torque to a staggering 98.1 lb-ft. To deliver the target weight saving, the engine has become an integral part of the innovative monocoque chassis and combines to deliver its 195hp from 164kg- creating the highest production motorcycle power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world. At the click of a button, Ducati’s Riding Modes deliver performance and enhanced rider confidence by combining seven class-leading technologies. The latest-generation sports ABS system, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), Ducati’s new race-derived Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ride-by-Wire (RbW) are now all programmed into seamless, electronic rider assistance. Even the world’s most advanced LCD dashboard with the full colour Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display changes to suit the rider’s environment.
To see this incredible machine as well as the full 2012 model range and the latest selection of Ducati Apparel at the Official Clothing Store visit the Ducati stand, G310 in Hall 4.
