When you speak of the motorcycle sport and leisure sector, you speak of a sector that entails a broad range of activities that include a great number of motorcycle riders and non-riders as well. Some of the activities that are included in this sector include the UK’s round of the World Superbike Championship, the British MotoGP, the British Superbike Championship, and the Isle of Man TT races; these events are some of the larger and most extensive motorcycle events that take place in the UK.

Besides the aforementioned events, there is also the off-road racing sector that is not quite as large as the track events but yet still draws in many riders, support teams and fans from throughout the United Kingdom on a consistent basis. Some of the off-road events include motocross racing, enduro racing, speedway, grass track, supercross racing and also supermoto racing

Anther sources of revenue from the motorcycle sport and leisure sector is the revenue derived from organised motorcycle tours. This part of the sector is growing significantly, with the help of the TV shows, ‘Long Way Round’ and ‘Long Way Down’, which feature major motorcycle tours throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and America as well.

MCI’s CEO, Steve Kenward expressed that he felt the motorcycle sport and leisure sector provided a plentiful amount of opportunities for businesses to benefit from the bike pound.
