Motorcycle Test costs set to rise

2013 is set to see some substantial changes in both the format and price of the current motorcycle test. As it stands, the motorcycle test is taken in two sections: on and off-road, this will become one test with off-road exercises are merged into the on-road test.

Costs will be higher for this combined test, particularly affecting learners who have paid for and passed the off-road section of their test and then waited before taking their on-road test. It’s estimated that this particular dilemma could affect over a large percentage of UK learners.

However, The Department for Transport insist that changes to the motorcycle test in early 2013 will not cause widespread issues and that ample warning time will ensure that motorcyclists who have already taken their first module test have time to take their second module- therefore qualifying before the new testing methods come in to practice.

Although the merging of two tests into one may make the motorcycle test more convenient, these increased costs will simultaneously make it less accessible.

Let’s hope motorcycling doesn’t become an elitist sport as rising prices prevent some from even hoping to pay for tuition and testing- let alone protective gear.

But here’s the good news, The Bike Insurer still strive to attain top deals for all our customers.

So however high test prices are hiked, you can guarantee The Bike Insurer will find you the lowest price possible on your bike insurance. With the promise of at least one great motorbike deal, it’s fair to say we’re always thinking of you!
