Rob Mac Racing will not be contesting the 2012 season; this announcement marks the momentary end to one of the most successful BSB teams. The team has always been linked to Yamaha and has raced riders such as Steve Hislop, Jamie Whitham, Chris Walker, Steve Plater, Simon Craf, Tommy Hill and Billy McConnell under the colours of Cadbury Boost, Virgin and Motorpoint.
Rob McElnea, Team Manager: “It was a difficult decision, but after a difficult 2011, we took this decision in agreement with our sponsors who have already confirmed support for the upcoming season.
“Unfortunately, we can deliver results in line with the expectations of our partners: we are running for the show for the fans and drivers to run, but inevitably we have to ensure a return to our sponsors and results of image height.
“To run again below our potential, we decided to take a sabbatical year: in 2012 we will work to return to the top in the BSB and offer our sponsors a winning proposition for 2013. We are grateful to all our partners that we have always guaranteed the best support in the past 20 years, particularly Motorpoint who understood well the reasons of our difficult decision. ”
