Scott Redding hopes for a Moto2 weight limit boost

Rumours are circulating that a minimum weight limit is to be introduced in Moto2 and if they prove to be true, they’ll come as great news for Scott Redding, who repeatedly faces lighter competitors powering past him on bikes identical to his own.

As one of the heaviest riders in the paddock, Redding finds it difficult to compete when it comes to picking up speed on the straight and frequently has to compete against riders who weigh up to as 20kg less than he does. Apparently, in an effort to combat this problem, Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta is planning to impose a minimum weight limit of 220kg, in order to level the playing field. Watch this space…
