According to a survey we have carried out at The Bike Insurer, there has been a 47% increase in the number of female riders that are looking to get a bike insurance quote.
In 2005 lady riders accounted for just 4% of all bike insurance quotations but from June – August 2007 that number was nearly 6%.
There could be a number of factors for this rise, namely getting around the congestion charge, lower bike insurance costs or the fact that riding a motorbike is seen as a generally cool thing to do.
The biggest increases were seen in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol, all cities affected by either congestion charging or overcrowded road and rail networks.
The most popular sector of bikes to increase was the upto 125cc category, which can be ridden on a provisional licence.
