Honda Motorsport has finally announced its stand in line-up for the Honda TT Legends World Endurance Championships second round, which takes place at the same time as the Isle of Man TT event.
Michael Laverty and Jason O’Halloran of Samsung Honda are to team up with former British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari for the eight-hour endurance race on the 10th June at Doha, Qatar.
Kiyonari, who is currently competing in the Asia Road Racing Championship is never happier than when onboard a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. In fact, the Fireblade is the very machine on which he has achieved most of his career highlights to date including all four Suzuka victories and the three Championship titles he won with Honda Racing UK’s British Superbike outfit. Despite his success, he is still eager to steal victory at Qatar;
‘I want to thank Honda for giving me this opportunity. All I’m thinking is winning the race for the team and I hope we can achieve this.’
Laverty meanwhile is one half of the Samsung Honda BSB lineup for this year, while O’Halloran competes for the team in British Superstock. Though Laverty doesn’t have any experience in endurance racing, O’Halloran has competed in the Suzuka eight hour endurance race and is keen to get going at Doha;
‘Its great to get this opportunity with Honda and fill in for the regular guys while they’re on TT duty. I’ve never ridden at Qatar but it looks great and I can’t wait for the whole experience.’
