Suzuki shun MotoGP

After failing to meet the deadline for commitment to the 2012 MotoGP championship, it seems Suzuki is pulling out of the MotoGP scene- at least for now. Although no official line has been taken on this, communications suggest that the manufacturer will make a return to racing in 2014.

It’s changing times as Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista leaves the squad after agreeing a 2012 deal with Honda Gresini. Bautista took his first Honda ride and made 9th position in lap times during testing in Valencia.

With a long history in MotoGP; right from the first team entered into the 1974 500cc GP World Championships, Suzuki has seen some great successes over the years. However, it seems this year they are taking a step back in order to concentrate on the development of their new 1000cc as rumours fly about possible engine configurations. MotoGP is set to increase engine size allowance from 800cc to 1000cc in 2012.

For 2012, Suzuki promises improvements on many models and the arrival of a new MX range which has made its debut at the International Dirt Bike Show this month.
