Yuki Takahashi has signed a contract for one year with the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team, riding alongside Moto2 and MotoGP veteran Alex De Angelis for the 2012 season. Upon sealing this deal, the experienced Japanese rider and his new team outlined their goal: to compete for the podium, with the ultimate aim of a top three finish in the final ranking of every race.
“I’m really excited about joining the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team in Moto2,” commented 27 year old Takahashi, “It represents a new challenge to me because everything changes: team, bike and chassis. My goal this year is to win the Championship. The NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team and Suter have shown to be competitive during the previous 2 seasons and I’ll give 100% to reach our objective.”
The team Sporting Director, Marco Curioni, was also enthusiastic: “I’m very glad we reached an agreement with Yuki for next season. We are convinced that our technical material and the support from Suter will permit us to fight constantly for the positions on the top of the timesheets and I’m really looking forward to see him and Alex fighting for the win and podiums at every single race. Yuki is not just an extraordinarily professional rider but he is also an easy-going, down to earth person and I think it will be a pleasure to work with him. He definitely is the right person in the right place.”
Takahashi began his career in MotoGP back in 2001 as a wild card 125cc and surprised everyone with a third place finish in the 2002 250cc Pacific Grand Prix- his first ever appearance on a Honda 250. The 2012 season will be his seventh full-time campaign in the World Championship in which he has taken 3 wins and a total of 11 podium finishes.
