Thursday, April 8 2010

Tommy Hill, who rides for the  Worx Crescent Suzuki team, barely missed taking the pole position on Sunday’s Roll for Pole after a major qualifying battle with his rival Riuichi Kiyonari. Hill wound up being on the first row for the first round of the British Superbike Championship, which took place on Monday, April 5th. Hill’s team-mate and fellow Suzuki rider, Yukio Kagayama started the first round of the race from the second row.

Prior to the qualifying race on Sunday, Hill gave an awesome performance during the three days of practice that led up to the qualifying session that took place on Sunday. Hill’s moment of glory during the practice sessions came when he set the fastest time in the third practice set on Saturday afternoon.

Hill also had an equally exciting qualifying session on Sunday, during the three-stage qualifying session, Hill was the first racer to drop under the 45-second mark, which set the best time in the second qualifier, team-mate Kagayama took third. Even though Hill was the fastest in the first half of the last qualifier, Kiyonari edged ahead of him in the final minutes.

Hill stated that he was over the moon about achieving the front row position for the British Superbike Championship, and that a front row start was what you need for the race at Brands. He went on to say that, he would be looking for a good start, and then work on consistency during the race.
