Farther on in the day he made to the second row on the grid for the re-running of the postponed second race from the event at Knockhill. Hill experienced a busy weekend as he readjusted to the high speed circuit, the first practice on Friday landed him a sixth place finish, but in the second practice he was able to do better with a fourth place finish, finally he made a third which gave him a front row start.

In the ensuing afternoon race, Hill was required to start from P7, since he had the seventh fastest lap in the first race at Knockhill. The race had to be stopped and restarted because of rain; the restart saw Hill getting of to a blistering start first lap that had him podium bound from the start.

Yukio Kagayama, Hill’s team mate came back into the competition after he had been made to sit out due to a broken bone in his right hand that he incurred in a crash that he suffered at Mallory Park. Even though Kagayama is in great shape, it is evident that his hand is not back at full capacity yet, compromising Kagayama’s performance on certain points of the track.
