Jorge Lorenzo extended his Championship lead by 72 points at Laguna Seca by winning the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix coming in in front of Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi. Lorenzo, who rides for Fiat Yamaha, took the lead in the ninth round of the MotoGp race that Dani Pedrosa relinquished after Pedrosa experienced a crash.

Pedrosa got off to a trademark start that put him in the lead in the first turn of the opening lap and it seemed as if the Spaniard would be repeating history by making a break for the win like he had done at Sachsenring, as he established a blistering pace at the outset of the race.

However, on the eleventh lap, Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa under pressure from Lorenzo crashed out in the fifth turn that left his fellow Spaniard to take the victory in what be his sixth win of the current season and his first victory at the California circuit.

Coming in behind Lorenzo was Casey Stoner who rides for Ducati, Stoner came in 3.517s behind the Fiat Yamaha champion, which was Stoner’s best result that he has had so far this season; this was also Stoner’s fourth podium in a row. Valentino Rossi, who rides for Fiat Yamaha and is the current champion followed Stoner in third place in what was just his second race back from an injury.
