Remember Lorraine? Well, our lady biker friend is now in full preparation mode for her ‘trip of a lifetime’. Sadly, a trans-Africa route is off the cards as her buddy couldn’t get the necessary time off work. However, her trans-Asia trip will most definitely be going ahead, departing in either the May or July.
This exciting trip will involve riding from Zurich, through Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, Laos, (probably Vietnam and Cambodia too) then on to Thailand and Malaysia, concluding in Singapore from where Lorraine will finally fly home.
A new bike is in order and Lorraine has purchased a second hand Suzuki DRZ400, weighing 146kg as opposed to the hefty old KLR she loves so much. The Suzuki is a far better option if she has to do all or part of the trip on my own as she’ll actually be able to pick the bike up alone- always useful!

Lorraine is more than happy with her new ride and they’re already getting along just fine: “He’s a really cute little black number and I’ve called him the Dizzy Devil”
The next couple of months will be to say the least, hectic, as preparation begins in earnest. However, as we know, Lorraine is a huge fan of The Toro Trail and hopes to squeeze in just one more trip to the Spanish trails before she goes!
“It has become a full blown addiction. I cannot believe more women don’t do trail riding!”
The best of luck to Lorraine as she embarks on her dream trip- we’ll keep you posted!
