Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne, World Superbike, British Superbike racing star and also a MotoGp competitor is scheduled to participate in the 2010 Express Insurance National Road Rally that is a celebration to promote motorcycle racing throughout the United Kingdom.

Byrne, who has won the British Superbike Championship twice, a World Superbike winner, and raced in the Moto GP, will take part in one of the numerous ‘ride outs’ that will be taking place during the weekend of July 3rd and 4th. Additionally, entrants in the ‘ride outs’ will be given the opportunity to raise much needed money for Mencap, a charity that is devoted to learning disabilities; Mencap is the nominated charity for the Road Rally.
Byrne commented that the Express Insurance National Road Rally is a huge celebration of biking that allows the participants to get in on the camaraderie and ride on routes that they have not ridden on in the past. Byrne also mentioned that he felt the Rally was an excellent and worthy charity link and that he was looking forward to getting acquainted with fellow bikers and motorcycle fans during the weekend.
Tony Way of Express Insurance stated that it was great to have Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne on board for the Road Rally and that Byrne was a huge name in motorcycle racing and that he was sure that his participation in the Rally would encourage others to take part as well.
