Why Choose a Benelli Motorbike?

Benelli is one of the oldest European motorcycle manufacturers and is based in the two-wheeled stronghold of Italy, something you may have guessed from the name.

Benelli history

It has been building motorbikes and scooters since 1911 and while the name may no longer be one of the leading lights in the industry, it was once one of the most famous brands in Europe.

Its range is varied with a mix of small scooters and high-end sports bikes, as well as the usual mix of adventure models and even off-road models.

There is only one single downside to owning a Benelli and that is the sparcity of franchised dealer support. If you happen to live near Barnsley then there simply is no problem because the dealer there is excellent.
The bonuses are many; a fabulous looking bike that looks, goes, and sounds like nothing else. No rider aids, superb handling and the surefire knowledge that wherever it is parked it will probably be the only one.
Ensure that it is properly serviced by someone who knows what they are doing and the reliability is as good as any other make. I keep looking at other bikes but can honestly say that there isn't another that I would swap it for.

I managed to find an über rare RS model with Oz wheels, brembo radial mono block calipers, titanium exhaust system and carbon parts as standard.
The engine could pull your arms off and will spin up the back wheel in 3rd if you're not careful.
Gearbox is a dream to use- clutch can be heavy for some but if you'vean sized hands it's no issue. Rolling neutral selection as with all cassette gearboxes.
Most parts are available from the Triumph 955i and some BMW cars, go figure.
The fuel economy isn't the best and I'd advise getting a PC3 fitted and tuned on a dyno, 70miles to a tank are not uncommon without it.
Reliability wise, if you device get well, let the engine warm up for 3-4mins before rising and regularly change oils and coolants plus keep the battery in check you won't have a problem.
I've only had issues with fuel- and by that I mean contaminated fuel from a garage blocked up my injectors and caused a fuel pump failure- needed the Injectors blown out with air and the fuel pump replacing.
Cooling/overheating never an issue as the cooling system is a dream and works a little too well.
The handling can be compared to a Honda Vfr/RVF 400, ie on rails and so responsive just bags and bags of useable power.
The brakes will rearrange your organs.
The sound of the Titanium Arrow sport exhaust system will make people stop and stare- sounds like a Ferrari at full tilt.

Pro's- used parts available through the very friendly owners club
Handles like no other
Pulls the crowds
Looks stunning
Goes like a train

Cons, parts- new, can be pricey
No real possibility of fitting panniers without custom fabrication
Pillion comfort not the best
Fuel consumption (though it does only have a small tank
very cheap to insure (future classic policy)
.
