Why Choose a BMW Motorbike?

BMW is one of the leading motorcycle manufacturer’s in the world and in the form of its big engine Adventure Sport and Touring models, it has some of the most popular bikes in the UK in its line-up, too.

That’s echoed on The Bike Insurer where BMW sits firmly in the top ten list of manufacturers that receive the most quote requests on our site, year-on-year.

BMW’s leading bike and technology

And the bike that leads the way for the German manufacturer is the BMW R 1200 GS.

The reason for BMW’s dominance of the high-capacity end of the market is, as well as lots of power and strong performance, a comprehensive range of electronic systems and rider aids on board its models.

That means its models have things like dynamic suspension systems, different riding modes and ABS – all of which can influence your insurance premium for the better.

If you don’t believe us then why not check out our BMW rider reviews. They give you real insight into BMW ownership from real BMW riders.

Had loads of bikes, but this must be the best all rounder I've had. Almost 110hp, loads of low down power and good acceleration with 8v engine and (with screen) will tour all day at motorway speeds. Good handling, low maintenance with shaft drive and with full luggage it's amazing what it carries on annual Isle of Man trip. As I only use on the roads I feel it's a better bike than the 1200GS I had.

It's a bit like wrestling a wild bear at times, handle bars are a bit low for me making it difficult to do life savers over your shoulders. Takes a while to master the gearbox and quick shift at low revs etc. But excellent over half throttle. Side stand is poor and can flick up without you noticing so you could drop the bike ! Hard to maneuver say doing a u turn as handle bars become stiff when stationary with non conventional front suspension.
But it is great if you grab a hand full of front brake as the nose won't dive.
