Why Choose a Kawasaki Motorbike?

Originally involved in the manufacture of aircraft, ships and trains, Kawasaki soon turned its attention to powered two-wheelers in 1954 built its first bikes in the form of a 60cc two-stroke, a 150cc four-stroke and a 250cc four-strokes.

The Japanese company developed into one of the biggest manufacturers quickly and by 1960 it was in a position to take over Meguro, the oldest motorbike manufacturer in Japan.

Since then, Kawasaki has concentrated on building big, powerful sportsbikes with the 1969 500cc H1 its first properly successful motorcycle.

Modern day Kawasaki

Over the years, lots of different Kawasakis have been added to that list with the Ninja H2R the latest in a long line of explosive machines that have tasted success on the road and on the racetrack.

Now a classic, once the ultimate sports bike it still cuts it as a fast tourer. I have travelled many kilometres across Europe, once riding from Furth in Southern Germany to Amsterdam in a day because it was so easy there seemed no point in stopping. At 100mph (or 160 kph to be strict) it was silent and free from buffeting. I have had the bike for nearly 20 years and see no reason to change, even at the age of 74. I may not travel at those speeds nowadays, certainly not in the UK but the low-speed torque and the ability to go most places in top gear make it very relaxing and still a useful motorway cruiser as well as having brilliant handling and being able to corner far faster than I now can!
