Why choose Kawasaki?

Originally involved in the manufacture of aircraft, ships and trains, Kawasaki soon turned its attention to powered two-wheelers in 1954 built its first bikes in the form of a 60cc two-stroke, a 150cc four-stroke and a 250cc four-strokes.

The Japanese company developed into one of the biggest manufacturers quickly and by 1960 it was in a position to take over Meguro, the oldest motorbike manufacturer in Japan.

Since then, Kawasaki has concentrated on building big, powerful sportsbikes with the 1969 500cc H1 its first properly successful motorcycle.

Modern day Kawasaki

Over the years, lots of different Kawasakis have been added to that list with the Ninja H2R the latest in a long line of explosive machines that have tasted success on the road and on the racetrack.

Solid, dependable, tough hack. Officially a horsepower or two too much for A2 but really, I doubt those ponies were all available even from the factory. Predictable and steady with enough tyre to even out the road in a way a 125 can never do. Frugal and cheap to run this is a good introduction to more powerful bikes. Great for filtering it is as easy in town as a 125. What does show its age are the brakes. The front disc in particular needs a good pull and is not a patch on more recent set ups. Makes you back off a little earlier which is no bad thing. You can overtake and the engine will rev out to high revs but it doesn't like the upper reaches of the rev range. Even still overtaking is possible given planning and it will still outdrag 90% of road vehicles at legal speeds.

good enough for the road, bags of fun.
For those who love carbed bikes and use the right gear at the right time will tell you how scaringly fast those little machines are.
Overall, very cheap to insure and gives a massive grin.
