The Bike Insurer will be heading up north in August to attend the first Peaks and Troughs Challenge.

Organised by the Scarisbrick and District Armada (S&D Armada), the club behind the the PLOP, the three-day event will take in the Lake District, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales in August.

In total the routes will cover 600 miles with routes planned out through three stunning National Parks with regular checkpoints and markings on the way.

As well as some serious riding on some of the UK’s best riding roads, lunch will also be provided along the way.

After each ride all participants will head back to base at the 4-Star Marriott Hotel in Broughton, Lancashire with live entertainment planned for two evenings.

Prizes for vintage and classic motorcycles

The event is open to all riders on all bikes but there will be special prizes handed out to older machines that complete the event.

As you may have noticed, the Peaks and Troughs Challenge coincides with the Classic TT in the Isle of Man (IOM).

And the S&D Armada is urging anyone who’s going over to the IOM to join in with the Peaks and Troughs Challenge en route to the Classic series.

That was one of the reasons behind the choice of location for the event with the hotel less than half an hour away from the Heysham ferry terminal.

Charity collection

As is always the case with the S&D Armada, the event will raise money for charity with the North West Air Ambulance and North West Bloodbikers receiving donations generated from the event.
