BMW has revealed prices for the new S 1000 XR and F 800 R.

The S 1000 XR sports tourer will cost £12,400 and comes with a 998cc inline four-cylinder, as well as a comprehensive range of electronic systems and rider aids.

And the German model is going to need all the tools it can get, as it enters a competitive segment in the market that is only going to get tougher this year when the Ducati Multistrada enters the fray.

Fortunately the S 1000 XR is dripping in technology and comes with different riding modes, a dynamic suspension system and traction control.

For the top end Sport SE model, prices peak at £14,750 while standard Sport models cost £13,645. It will reach UK dealers this summer.

The S 1000 XR was unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan late last year and the F 800 R was also revealed on stage alongside the sports tourer.

The F 800 R is a naked bike that’s been around for a while however the latest version comes with an almost entirely new front end after a mixed reception for its predecessor’s appearance.

There are two versions in terms of output available with a 90hp and 47hp model for riders with an A2 licence.

As is the case on most BMWs, there’s a substantial range of electronics and technology on the F 800 R, including stability control and an electronic suspension adjustment system.

Prices for the F 800 R start from £7,595 and will arrive in dealerships on February 7.
