Ducati’s much-vaunted Panigale 1299 arrives in the UK this week, priced from £16,695 for the range-opening model.

At the top of the line-up sits the 1299 S, priced at £20,795, however both versions share the 1285cc Superquadro engine that produces 205hp and 144.6Nm.

And ever since the 1299 was first revealed, it’s the powertrain that’s grabbed all the headlines.

According to Ducati, the new 1299 Panigale has a record breaking power-to-weight ratio.

The standard and S versions also share a wide array of electronics systems and rider aids including an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), three riding modes, cornering ABS as well as the Italian manufacturer’s Traction, Wheelie and Braking Control systems.

Where the two models differ is in suspension, with the S coming kitted out in Ohlins’ Smart EC suspension that constantly monitors and measures to change the suspension setup according to the bike rather than rider inputs.

Away from specification details, the Panigale 1299 is also a stunning model, as you’d expect from Ducati.

It comes with a simple exterior and a flicked tail giving an air of power and speed, apt given its performance statistics.

Finance deals for the new model are available with prices starting from £179 per month for the standard version and £235 for the S.

The Ducati Panigale 1299 was revealed at the EICMA show in Milan last year. It also featured in The Bike Insurer’s ‘Best new motorbikes for 2015’.
