New Yamaha YZF-R3 revealed

Yamaha has revealed the latest addition to its range in the form of the YZF-R3.

The new 320cc sports bike will go on sale in the UK next year and will comply with the A2 motorbike licence.

It’s a lightweight model with typically aggressive styling and a raked profile.

Up front, the R3 comes with a dynamic nose and a compact LCD instrument display panel.

The remit for the Japanese manufacturer was to make a high-end sportsbike that can be ridden as a commuter.

And, with a powerful twin cylinder engine, it’s suited to both everyday riding and motorway thrashes.

The YZF-R3 comes with ABS as standard and sensible 17-inch tyres at the front and back, but it’s the engine that will grab most of the headlines.

It has taken most of its engineering queues from the bigger R1 and R6 supersports bikes.

With just under 42hp at its disposal, riders with the A2 motorbike licence will be able to buy the new R3, no doubt a big influencer in its development.

And the liquid-cooled unit will likely lead its other rivals in the power and performance stakes, too.

Prices for the new Yamaha YZF-R3 are expected to be revealed closer to its European and UK launch next year.
