2016 Triumph Thruxton and Thruxton R in side profile

Triumph has revealed specification and pricing details for the Thruxton and Thruxton R.

The standard Triumph Thruxton will cost £10,400 while the Thruxton R is priced at £11,700. The pair will reach UK dealers in May and April respectively.

The new Thruxton engine

Both Thruxtons come with a 1200cc ‘high power’ twin motor that hits highs of 96hp and puts out 82.6lb-ft of torque.

According to the manufacturer the new engine delivers more power and more torque than its predecessor.

New tech

The Thruxton and Thruxton R come with a long list of technology and electronics including ABS, traction control, torque assist and different rider modes.

The look

The 2016 Triumph Thruxton is a modern classic sports bike and that means café racer styling with an aluminium fuel tank cover.

And in-keeping with the café racer styling, there is a long list of accessories with the Thruxton, which means they’re fairly customisable and come with options like lower clip-on handlebars and leather tank strap.

What’s different about the Thruxton R?

The Thruxton R adds Brembo brakes, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres and slightly different looks to the standard version.

It’s been a busy start to the year for Triumph with the Thruxton launch also coinciding with the new Bonneville and Tigers.
