Yamaha reveals new special edition VMAX

Yamaha has introduced the new VMAX Carbon – a special edition model – into its line-up for 2015.

The special edition model marks 30 years on the market for the VMAX name and the latest iteration comes dripping in carbon fibre.

It’s based on the current V4 model which means it keeps the 1,679cc 197bhp liquid-cooled engine.

Added to the new VMAX is a slip-on Akrapovic muffler for a more gravelly sound for the V4 powertrain.

Carbon fibre covers the bike’s tank cover, front and rear fenders and its side covers, leaving no guesswork as to where the name comes from.

The Yamaha VMAX Carbon goes on sale this month in the UK however the standard VMAX has also had its line-up expanded with a Matt Grey version also arriving in UK dealerships.

Prices for the VMAX Carbon have not been revealed yet however more details are expected closer to its official launch this month.

One thing that has been confirmed however is the commissioning of a number of Yard Built specials designed by JvB-moto in Germany.

In total, three Yard Built specials will be manufactured to mark the model’s 30th anniversary and they will add custom twists to the standard model with some inspiration from the 1980’s when the model first arrived.
