Plop Enduro Nr.2 2015
Anglesey played host to the second PLOP Endure of the year on 4 July with The Bike Insurer and The Van Insurer both in attendance.
Despite a damp start to the day, the sun broke through the clouds (along with a stiff breeze) meaning conditions were almost perfect for all 43 teams.
The Bike Insurer team consisted of ringers, with Charley Oakland and Josh Harland from the World Superbike paddock, and Lewis Osler from ThundersportGB riding under our banner, with The Bike Insurer founder, Phil Wilding completing the squad.
For The Van Insurer, our riders were somewhat less illustrious but just as keen with Andy Stevens, Joseph Fielding, Mike Rumph and Nick Buchanan taking to the track.
Strong starts saw both teams in the top 20 during the first hour but disaster struck for The Van Insurer when the engine died. Two engine rebuilds and two hours later, TVI were forced to throw in the towel with the C90 beyond repair.
Fortunately The Bike Insurer fared much better with our team of ringers sitting comfortably in the top 20 throughout the race, despite two three minute penalties from a rider who shall not be named! Strong riding from all of the team enabled The Bike Insurer to finish in twelfth, our best ever finish in the unique PLOP event.
The overall title was claimed by Mercury Racing who finished five laps ahead of second placed Yellow Peril with Team Druids in third.
Once again, The Bike Insurer would like to thank both Anglesey Circuit and the S&D Armada for putting on a brilliant race.
