Bike Tours for the Wounded at the Royal Chelsea Hospital

The Bike Insurer visited the Royal Chelsea Hospital at the weekend for a special ride out organised by Bike Tours for the Wounded (BTWW).

BTWW are an organisation we’ve spoken to before and they provide bike tours for injured service personnel in a bid to help them rehabilitate through experiencing the open road.

It’s a unique not-for-profit in that it needs bikers to take any wounded servicemen or women as pillions on road trips that take in the likes of the USA and the ride out to see the Royal Chelsea Pensioners was the latest in a long line of fundraising activities by BTWW.

After congregating at a service station on the M4, some 140 bikers made the trek to the 325-year-old residence of the world famous senior citizens, with the Chelsea Pensioners on hand in their iconic red jackets to welcome the bikers in.

Some bikers had made the journey from as far afield as Manchester and Devon, paying £20 for the privilege, of which £5 was donated to the Royal Chelsea Hospital.
